OSU Guests
Guests and visitors can access wireless services through the osuguest network. The osuguest network is available in many locations around campus.
Please be aware that osuguest is Not a public network; sponsorship and authentication is required to use. As osuguest is unencrypted, please take any and all necessary steps to secure your device when connecting to this network. Avoid performing any tasks that are considered confidential.
Information concerning access permissions, how to obtain a guest account or how to log onto the osuguest network is below.
Access Permissions:
Services on the osuguest SSID have been limited to the following:
- HTTP and HTTPS web browsing
- Virtual Private Network (VPN)
- Secure Shell (SSH)
- Secure Mail (i.e., Secure POP3, Secure IMAP, Secure SMTP)
- Instant Messaging (AIM, Novell, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ)
All other services, such as POP/IMAP and SMTP, are not permitted. To access unsecured email, you will need to utilize your email provider's webmail.
Accounts:
Accounts for the osuguest wireless network are created by authorized OSU faculty and staff. If you need an account for this network, please contact the department, college, or event leader sponsoring your visit.
Using osuguest:
Once associated to osuguest, you must first open a web browser and attempt to navigate to a website. This attempt will redirect you to the "OSUGuest - Wireless Network Captive Portal". At this page, read the acceptable use policy and enter in your wireless guest credentials. If you have not been given or have forgotten your wireless guest credentials, please speak with the department, college, or event leader sponsoring your visit.
