March 2, 2006: Advisory Team, Core Team, and Executive Steering wireless overview meeting
A joint meeting open to all members of the wireless governance teams was held in the Faculty Club Grand Lounge at 10:30am on March 2, 2006. Ilee Rhimes, Chief Information Officer, provided welcoming remarks to all in attendance. Chuck Morrow-Jones and Bob Corbin presented a Phase I and Phase II update along with a review of the RFP. Attendees were encouraged to pull down a copy of the presentation and RFP from the wireless web site.
January 17, 2006: TELR VideoCast Event
TELR invites you to attend a local viewing Tuesday, Jan. 17, of a live national videocast about "Improving Campus Communications with Wireless Technologies." The 2-hour event, sponsored by Technology Enhanced Learning & Research (TELR), begins at 1 pm at the Digital Union -- 370 Science & Engineering Library, 175 West 18th Avenue. November 10, 2005: Joint Advisory Team & NETWOG Meeting
Updates concerning the OSU Wireless Project for the Columbus campus were provided to participants at a joint meeting of the OSU Wireless Advisory Team and NETWOG, held on November 10th. Attendees were provided with a presentation by NeTeam concerning the evolution of wireless technology. Project Directors, Chuck Morrow-Jones and Bob Corbin provided an overview of technical initiatives for Phase II of the project. Tom Stone from TELR, provided an update on the pedagogical initiatives for Phase II. Initial launch of Phase II is expected to begin September 2006 and build out will continue through 2010. September 20, 2005: DNA Walk In Training Session Held
The wireless team held a special walk in training session for all Department Network Administrators. The walk in session provided DNA's an opportunity to receive hands on training from OIT personnel in configuring supported wireless devices. More than 40 DNA's attended the walk in training session, which was held in 120 Baker Systems Engineering.
March 10, 2005: Wireless Summit Held with OSU Community
Updates concerning the Wireless Project initiative for OSU Columbus campus were provided to participants at the Wireless Summit held on March 10 th. The topics included updates on the following items: project status, draft wireless policy, campus site survey challenges, proposed governance structure and next steps. January 13, 2005: Wireless Summit Held with OSU Community
Details regarding the Wireless Project initiative for OSU Columbus campus were unveiled to participants at the Wireless Summit held on January 13 th in Baker 120. Chief Information Officer Ilee Rhimes greeted a standing only crowd. The topics presented were: draft wireless policy update, Wireless Instructional Strategies Committee overview, evolution of the wireless project and overview of wireless network design considerations. The Wireless Summits are intended to be a forum where both technical and end user questions and concerns may be aired.
