WIRELESS TERMS AND CONDITIONS
I. Services Provided
A. OSU Wireless Services:
OIT will install your Aruba Network(s) 802.11A/B/G wireless access points (AP’s) in your building. The one-time charge includes the cost of the site survey, installation and maintenance, security, authentication service, network and switch infrastructure, wiring, line power and the supporting switch infrastructure. OIT will certify the wiring and wireless coverage. OIT will maintain the security switches and authentication hardware and software and will provide monitoring of the wireless connections. The service includes encryption of the air transmission, and the requirement of a login name and password.
The AP’s will be installed and maintained according to The Ohio State University Wireless Network Policy which is available at http://cio.osu.edu/policies/wireless.html.
II. Network Trouble Reporting/Maintenance and Repair
Service, Maintenance and Trouble Reporting support is provided by the OIT Help Desk at 8-HELP (8-4357)
III. OSU Wireless Network Coverage/Guarantee
OIT will guarantee coverage in the areas high-lighted in your drawings if the AP’s are installed in accordance with the survey. Failure to install all recommended AP’s and other deviations from the design may result in loss of coverage. If any physical changes in the environment occur, please contact OIT for a survey evaluation, which may or may not result in extra costs. OIT reserves the right to review any installation or survey design every six months to guarantee coverage.
IV. Billing and Payment
OIT will bill the customer upon completion of the project. There is no recurring maintenance fees associated with the OSU Wireless Network.
V. Equipment Ownership
Upon installation, the AP’s and access switches become part of the building infrastructure and shall not be moved to another building. OIT will repair or replace any defective AP’s at no charge to the customer except in instances of abuse, accidental damage, or theft.
VI. Service/Performance Objectives
A. Mean time to repair
1. Emergency - 4 hours
2. Normal Repair - 18 hours
B. Network Availability
1. Average monthly network availability per Access Point – 99.95%
VII. Cabling
OIT will provide the cabling to the AP’s. All cables will be visibly inspected to ensure that all components are in place, complete and correctly fitted. OIT will test all network cables in accordance with current industry and University standards. Power to the access points will be provided by equipment provided by OIT. The customer will make available necessary rack space for Power over Ethernet equipment and wire terminations. VIII. Job Site Conditions and Cleanup
All customer equipment will be kept covered and safe from work-related debris, such as, but not limited to, drilling dust, dirt from ceiling work, etc.
IX. Responsible User Policy
Whereas the OSU Wireless LAN Internet Service is an extension of the Ohio State University OSUNET network, all persons who use said network must agree to abide by the University Responsible of University Computing and Network Resources Use Policy. http://cio.osu.edu/policies/responsible_use.html.
X. Project Management
The OIT primary contact for this project will be Mary Reed, (614)292-8848 at the Telecommunications Network Center, 320 W. 8th Avenue.
XI. Work Schedule
Unless otherwise agreed by both parties, once work commences, it will proceed uninterrupted until project completion. Delays caused by situations beyond the control of OIT may result in renegotiations of the work schedule. On site work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. University holidays and closings must be observed. Classroom activities may dictate work hours.
These Terms and Conditions contain the entire understanding. These Terms and Conditions can only be amended in writing and signed by authorized representatives of The Ohio State University – OIT/Telecommunications & Networking and our customer(s).
